- Inspection System for Paperback Books
- On-line system for examination of forms (folded pages) during assembly of paperback books for compilation accuracy and quality. The image of the form in twenty-four (24) form feeder pockets is acquired by the system and "learned" as a master form. Subsequent forms are compared to the original "learned" images for detection of improperly oriented or incorrect forms. The system inspects eight (8) forms per second and signals either correct or incorrect form to the PLC. Upon detection of the first failed form, an alarm signal warns the operator. Upon detection of four (4) consecutive failed forms, the assembly machine is automatically shut down for investigation of the fault condition.

- Color Identification System for Rolls of Paper Towels
- On-line system for product identification of paper towel pattern type and color, inspected through a multiple colored plastic wrapper. The system inspects five (5) paper towel rolls per second that appear at any rotational angle about the axis of the roll. This system employs software modeling techniques and incorporates a neural learning network. Product data is transferred to the host for inventory control and related product management objectives.

- Color Inspection system for Plastic Bottle Labels
- On-line system for inspection of bottle labels for displacement, rotation, and gross defects. The system inspects four (4) bottles per second and signals either pass or fail to the assembly PLC. The system incorporates part tracking and reject control software to remove flawed product from the production line. The system is designed to handle multiple label types and sizes, and is capable of "learning" new label styles.

- Product Identification System
- On-line system for product and package type identification. Several images of the product or package are acquired by the system and "learned" as identification master. Subsequent products or packages are compared to the master for identification. The system inspects up to five (5) products or packages per second and compensates for orientation. The system employs software modeling techniques and incorporates a neural learning network. Product data is transferred to the host for count, inventory control and related product management objectives.

- Ink Test and Inspection System
- This system was developed to test the properties of ink samples on various paper types. It incorporated motion control, analog and digital control of a ink jet print head, and vision inspection of the printed sample. The system would allow the operator to load an ink sample. It would then move the print head over the paper sample and print a series of dots. Once the printing was completed, the system then moved the inspection camera over each dot, acquired an image and inspected the dot for contrast, shape, and size. The data was stored in a spreadsheet for later analysis.
